Beacon by BLOTT WORKS
This floor lamp has been designed to operate both as a standard lamp (when closed), to cast light patterns on its surroundings, or as an up-lighter (when open), to bounce light off the ceiling for a more ambient effect.
Its design began with the simple shape of a single stemmed flower such as a tulip or rose. This then became intertwined with ideas of a radiating flame such as a lighted match, and engineered to open up like a flower or two unclasping hands.
The oak slatted shade is mounted on a brushed aluminium pole with a stainless steel base. It is mains powered and uses standard GU10 LED spotlight bulbs which can be dimmed by adjusting the brass knob mounted at hand height. The default height is 1.7 meters but this can be customised to fit any context.
This lamp is handmade to order in the north of England by BLOTT WORKS and is available through Bad Dog Designs.
