PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
NOTE: There is approximately a 2 week build time as they are assembled to order - Thank you for your patience!
The Ospray - 8 is a true Analog percussion synthesizer, based on original designs that were in the public domain back in 1983.
They have been lovingly tweaked and reworked for production and use in 2025 without loosing any of the period sound or feel.
The Ospray - 8 is very intuitive to use, there is nothing complex in its operation, no menus or parameters to set. Simply power it up
and start creating period sounds straight away. All housed in a free standing handmade oak case, that compliments any vintage Synth setup.
Sounds are produced with individual percussion modules, a Drum module / Cymbal module and Handclap module. They are grouped together
so the Ospray - 8 has 4 Drum modules, 3 Cymbal modules and a Handclap module. There is then a global module inside that has a basic
Midi decoder and a low noise stereo output amplifier.
You can download a copy of the manual here for more details.
Many thanks to Robbie Puricelli at the Pro-Synth Network for putting this excellent demo together!
Operation is very simple. Plug the mains adaptor into your wall outlet, and connect the other end into the DC socket on the side of the Ospray.Press the ‘Power’ button on the front of the Ospray and the green power LED will light. There will also be a brief flash on the Handclap trigger LED. Connect an audio amplifier / Audio interface / Mixer to the Left and Right 6.35mm Jack Sockets, or if preferred connect the individual module audio out 3.5mm jacks to your Audio setup. At this point now you can press the manual trigger buttons and start creating sounds. If you can’t hear anything, just check that the module volume control is not turned down!Connect your preferred trigger method, either Midi In or via the individual triggers. Individual triggers are limited to a maximum of 12v DC so devices like the Arturia Beatstep Pro are ideal.
